Who's Behind the Brand?
Spotlight on the Brand - Gemma @ Selfie Clothing
Fun colour-in clothing range for children.
Selfie Clothing is a brand started by mum of two boys, Gemma Treby, who set out to design and create a high quality gift that enhances children’s pride and sense of achievement in their creativity.
Gemma explains, “I love to see how proud my children are when they create their own mini masterpieces. I set out to find a mess-free solution that would enhance their glowing moment. What could be better than enabling them to create their own top that they get to wear?”
Since the launch of Selfie Clothing colour-in tops, the brand has continued to innovate, and now includes colour-me-in pyjamas, capes and baseball hats. Each beautifully packaged item comes as a kit with a set of permanent fabric pens. The range includes everything from Unicorns, to Superheros and Dinosaurs, and is ever evolving to suit consumer trends.
“The permanent fabric pens allow children to use their own imaginations to create their very own bespoke garments. Including permanent fabric pens in the kit is very important to us, as we understand how much attention children pour into their masterpieces. We see it imperative to their self-esteem that the inks simply cannot be washed out,” continues Gemma.
What do we love about Selfie Clothing?
We wish they made these for grown-ups too! Who doesn’t love a bit of colouring in?!
Selfie clothing is such a great idea, how amazing for your children to get creative and to actually be able to wear their work of art when they have finished!
Their products make a great present and we also love the idea that you could use them as an activity at a party and send each child home with their finished masterpiece – saves doing party bags!!
Each kit comes with fabric colour in pens and a colour in practice sheet.
‘A Little Bit Dotty’ is all about gifts for babies, mums and little ones so we thought it would be interesting if we asked Gemma a few parent related questions.
What parenting tip would you have given your pre-child self?
Let your children experience failure and allow them to explore the possibility of not everything being perfect.
What do you miss most about life before children?
Absolutely nothing! Although a hot cup of tea is a pleasant memory, most of the time it’s cold by the time you get round / remember to drink it!
What do you love most about being a parent?
I love exploring the world with them, we go on a lot of adventures and days out. They push us to keep busy and see the sights. If it were just my husband and I on holiday we would spend our days chilling on the beach. With the kids we are out kayaking, climbing mountains and snorkelling.
What would you say is the hardest part about being a parent?
School! I struggle with not being as in control as I would like to be.
What's the most embarrassing thing your child has said or done in public?
That would probably be when Theo brought home from school a family portrait of us all. We were all under a rainbow and fully naked…. Boobs, bits and all!! It must be so funny being a teacher at times.
A big thank you to Gemma for taking part in our Spotlight on the Brand feature.
